🐊🎹🎶 First Experience with the Chakhe (จะเข้)
Chakhe (จะเข้) – Traditional Thai Lute
In the music sharing and experience class, the most challenging instrument is the Chakhe (จะเข้) .
We truly appreciate these students for their great interest and enthusiasm for the instrument! 🥰👍The Chakhe (จะเข้) , also known as the Thai-style three-stringed Khett piano, is shaped like a lute. Its name comes from the fact that one end of the early instruments was carved to resemble a crocodile's head. The body of the piano is spoon-shaped, and it has five movable legs at the bottom. The strings consist of two silk strings and one metal string. The resonator box is made of teak wood, with a bamboo or wooden bridge. The soundboard has 11 equally spaced bridges. This instrument originated in India and was introduced to Thailand through Myanmar and Cambodia. It is often used in traditional Thai Mahori and Khruang-sai orchestras. 🇹🇭🇹🇭
